i lost my brother in february this year after a long battle with alcohol oor billy, ma wee
brother died an alcoholic, yes that dirty word that receives no sympathy, reminds me of depression
in the way it can be brushed away " they brought it on theirself, think about your family, give
yourself a shake" until you have walked that persons shoes no stones should be thrown. i can say
growing up in tullibody a wee village in clackmannanshire he had a passion for horses and wanted to
be a jockey he grew to tall and when he turned 16 went down the pit where he worked till il health
forced him back in the home years later. he had married and had three children who he loved
greatly billy also had lost a sister through terminal illness, his mother killed in a road accident
and a young neice brought up more like a sister 18yrs old with an asthma attack. the last ten years
of his life he lived on his own, he was a one woman man and could not form any meaning realasonship
after his marriage broke down gradually over a period of years he spiralled into the world of
depression,lonliness and drink which the family had to witness an suffer his demons,mood swings and
self hatred the last two years of his life were a horrible nightmare we were all living he did try
at times but it was too big for him he had been in hospital over christmas and new year very ill,
we thought that was it, but he got home middle of january, his sons and daughter exwife sisters and
brother we were all there for him. the night we left him alone he had a hemmorige and we found him
dead.my wee brother wasn t an angel he had a good heart and a generous nature who would give his
last. he was witty and funny with great one-liners which stayed with him to the end. he loved elvis
and sentimental music,
was a better cook than alot of women, but most of all he loved his lassie and his boys an the
grandbairns and his wee dog lackie be at peace billy your torment is over so sadly missed your
big sister agnesxxxxx
